BADMINTON JERSEY DESIGN GUIDE: LIGHT, FAST, AND STYLISH

By Team Athenax · May 2026 · 5 min read

Badminton is one of the fastest racket sports, and your jersey needs to match that speed. Ultra-light, sweat-wicking, and unrestricted movement are the priorities for badminton wear.

FABRIC WEIGHT: GO ULTRA LIGHT

Badminton players need the lightest possible fabric — 120-140 GSM maximum. Every gram matters when you're lunging for smashes and executing rapid net plays. The fabric should be almost imperceptibly light while still providing adequate coverage and durability.

FIT AND MOBILITY

Badminton involves extreme arm extension for overhead shots and deep lunges. Your jersey needs generous armhole cuts and flexible fabric around the shoulders. A slightly loose fit is preferable to tight — restriction in any direction costs you points.

COMPETITION RULES

BWF (Badminton World Federation) rules require players on the same team to wear uniform clothing. In team events, all players must have matching designs. Numbers aren't typically required in badminton, but team identification should be clear.

COLOR CONSIDERATIONS

White shuttlecocks against white jerseys can affect visibility, so solid white jerseys are less common in competitive badminton. Bright colors, dark bases, and high-contrast designs are preferred. The color should also complement the shorts, which in badminton are typically shorter than in other sports.
