CUSTOM JERSEY SIZE GUIDE: HOW TO GET THE PERFECT FIT EVERY TIME

By Team Athenax · May 2026 · 5 min read

Getting the right size is the most important part of ordering custom jerseys. A jersey that's too tight restricts movement, and one that's too loose looks unprofessional. Here's how to measure your team correctly.

HOW TO MEASURE

You need three measurements for each player: chest circumference (measured around the fullest part of the chest, under the arms), jersey length (from the base of the neck to where you want the jersey to end), and sleeve length (from the shoulder seam to the desired end point on the arm).

STANDARD SIZE CHART (IN INCHES)

Here's a general guide: Extra Small (XS) fits chest 34-36 inches, Small (S) fits 36-38, Medium (M) fits 38-40, Large (L) fits 40-42, XL fits 42-44, and XXL fits 44-46 inches. These are approximate — always check your manufacturer's specific size chart as sizing varies between brands.

TIPS FOR TEAM ORDERS

Collect actual chest measurements from every player rather than asking them their "usual size." People's perception of their size often doesn't match reality. Add 2-3 inches to the chest measurement for a comfortable athletic fit, or 1 inch for a snug performance fit.

KIDS AND YOUTH SIZING

For junior teams, sizes typically range from 22 inches (age 5-6) to 34 inches (age 14-15). Kids grow fast, so consider ordering slightly larger to last the full season. Most manufacturers including Athenax offer youth sizes across all designs.

COMMON MISTAKES TO AVOID

Don't rely on generic S/M/L sizing without checking the actual measurements. Don't assume all brands use the same size chart. Always order a sample if you're placing a large team order for the first time. And remember that sublimation jerseys don't shrink in the wash, so order true to size.
