HOW LONG DO CUSTOM JERSEYS LAST? LIFESPAN AND DURABILITY GUIDE
One of the best things about investing in quality sublimation jerseys is their longevity. But exactly how long can you expect them to last? Here's a realistic guide.
PRINT LIFESPAN: INDEFINITE
Sublimation prints are permanent — the ink is molecularly bonded to the fabric. The print will never crack, peel, or fade significantly. After 200+ washes, the colors remain vibrant. The print literally outlasts the fabric.
FABRIC LIFESPAN: 3-5 SEASONS
With regular weekly use and proper washing, expect 3-5 seasons from a quality polyester jersey. The fabric eventually shows wear — slight pilling, minor stretching, or thinning at high-friction areas (underarms, collar). This is normal for any garment used intensively.
FACTORS THAT SHORTEN LIFESPAN
Hot water washing, bleach or harsh detergents, tumble drying on high heat, playing on rough surfaces, and poor storage (crumpled in bags) all accelerate wear. Follow our care guide to maximize lifespan.
WHEN TO REPLACE
Replace when the fabric feels thin or has visible pilling, when the fit has loosened significantly, when there are tears or holes, or when your team simply wants a fresh look. Many teams replace jerseys every 2-3 years not because they need to, but because they want a new design.
