HOW TO KEEP WHITE JERSEYS WHITE: STAIN REMOVAL GUIDE

By Team Athenax · May 2026 · 5 min read

White jerseys look stunning on the field but are notoriously hard to maintain. Grass stains, sweat yellowing, and ground dirt can make a white jersey look dingy after just one match. Here's how to keep them pristine.

IMMEDIATE ACTION IS KEY

Treat stains as soon as possible after the match — the longer you wait, the harder they become to remove. Rinse the stained area with cold water immediately. Don't use hot water on stains — heat sets them permanently into the fabric.

GRASS STAIN REMOVAL

Apply a mixture of white vinegar and baking soda directly to the grass stain. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes, then gently scrub with an old toothbrush. Rinse with cold water and wash normally. For stubborn stains, repeat the process before machine washing.

SWEAT YELLOWING

Yellow underarm stains are caused by the reaction between sweat proteins and aluminum in deodorants. Soak the affected areas in a solution of one part hydrogen peroxide to one part water for 30 minutes before washing. For prevention, switch to aluminum-free deodorants on match days.

GENERAL WHITE JERSEY CARE

Wash white jerseys separately from colored items. Use a whitening detergent but avoid chlorine bleach on sublimation prints. Sun-drying occasionally can naturally bleach minor discoloration. Store white jerseys away from colored items to prevent color transfer.

Quality sublimation prints on white fabric from our catalog stay vibrant no matter how many times you wash.
