10 COMMON JERSEY DESIGN MISTAKES AND HOW TO AVOID THEM
After printing thousands of jerseys, we've seen every design mistake imaginable. Here are the ten most common ones and how to avoid them.
1. TOO MANY COLORS
More than 3-4 colors makes a jersey look chaotic. Stick to a primary color, a secondary accent, and maybe one highlight color.
2. UNREADABLE NAMES
Using thin, decorative, or overly stylized fonts for player names makes them impossible to read from a distance. Always use bold, clean fonts.
3. WRONG SPELLING
You'd be amazed how often team names or player names are misspelled. Triple-check everything before approving the mockup. Once printed, there's no undo button.
4. IGNORING THE SIZE CHART
Guessing sizes instead of measuring leads to ill-fitting jerseys and expensive exchanges. Measure every player's chest circumference.
5. OVERSIZED LOGOS
A logo that covers half the chest looks unprofessional. Logos should be 3-4 inches maximum and positioned on the left chest or center.
6. POOR COLOR CONTRAST
Dark text on a dark background or light text on a light background — both are invisible. Ensure strong contrast between text and background.
7. COPYING IPL LOGOS
Using official IPL team logos is trademark infringement. Get inspired by IPL color schemes, but create original designs.
8. ORDERING TOO LATE
Rushing a jersey order leads to errors and stress. Order at least 10 days before you need them.
9. SKIPPING THE MOCKUP APPROVAL
Always request and carefully review a digital mockup before printing. This is your insurance against errors.
10. MISMATCHED SHORTS
Ordering jerseys without coordinating shorts creates an incomplete look. Plan the full kit together.
