CAN SPORTS JERSEYS HAVE POCKETS? CUSTOM OPTIONS EXPLAINED
Pockets on sports jerseys are a surprisingly common request. While traditional match jerseys don't have pockets, there are valid reasons to add them — and ways to do it without compromising the sporting aesthetic.
WHEN POCKETS MAKE SENSE
Training and warm-up jerseys where players carry phones or keys. Casual athleisure jerseys for off-field wear. Cycling jerseys that traditionally have rear pockets for nutrition. Coaching and staff jerseys where having a phone accessible is practical.
WHEN TO SKIP POCKETS
Competitive match jerseys — most sports rules don't explicitly ban pockets, but they can snag during physical play. Slim-fit jerseys where pockets would disrupt the silhouette. Any jersey used for contact sports like kabaddi where pockets could cause injury.
POCKET OPTIONS
Side seam zip pockets — invisible when closed, secure for valuables. Internal phone pockets — sewn inside the jersey at the lower hem. Back pockets (cycling style) — three open pockets across the lower back.
